Updated from Strava. 13 Jun, 12:57.
Preparation for the Chicago Marathon is led by Jovan Denović, an athlete, medical student and founder of the Run Culture community.
Through the training plan, the focus is on smart progress, understanding the body, injury prevention and consistency throughout the entire process.
Whether you are training for your first 5K or a marathon, Jovan can help make the process simpler and smarter.
Weekly reflection
The focus is building the aerobic base and running economy. Two easy runs (10 km and 6.5 km) will help increase total mileage with lower stress.
The tempo workout will develop the ability to hold a faster rhythm with controlled effort.
The most important workout of the week will be a progressive 19 km long run, where I will run the final kilometers faster than the start. This simulates marathon-like fatigue and develops the ability to maintain form in the later stages of the race.
Overall, the week is about gradually strengthening endurance and efficiency, and preparing the body for the higher training volume ahead.
