Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina

Iskra

Association supporting children suffering from malignant diseases and their families through accommodation, rehabilitation programs, emotional support, and humanitarian initiatives.

Story and context

Iskra from Banja Luka grew from the need for families of children with malignant diseases not to be alone during the hardest period of treatment. Their work carries a quiet but powerful message: when a child is ill, the whole family needs a place of safety.

The Parents' House, known as Roditeljska kuca Iskra, provides accommodation for children and parents who come to Banja Luka for treatment. It is not only a roof and a room, but a place where families can breathe outside the hospital rhythm, stay together and preserve a piece of everyday life.

Through rehabilitation camps, family and emotional support, humanitarian actions and community projects, Iskra shows how organized kindness can become a real support when a family's life suddenly changes.
